How we choose today’s free horse racing tips
The selections are generated automatically from the day’s racecards. We rank eligible runners using their official handicap rating, performance rating and recent finishing positions. Better recent form increases a runner’s score within this system.
Known non-runners and runners in abandoned or rescheduled races are excluded when the selections are first generated. Horses with neither a usable official rating nor a usable performance rating are also excluded, as are those whose latest form entry is 0 or P.
Two British selections and one Irish selection
When qualifying runners are available in both regions, we choose the two highest-ranked British runners and the highest-ranked Irish runner. If there are no qualifying Irish runners, all three selections can come from Britain. If there are no qualifying British runners, all three can come from Ireland.
Any unfilled place goes to the highest-ranked remaining runner from either region. The final selections appear in score order. Coverage is based on where the race takes place, not where a horse was bred.
What the ratings and form mean
Official rating: the horse’s handicap mark. Performance rating: an assessment of the horse’s performance. Recent form: previous finishing positions, with the most recent result on the right.
Form comments provide additional context alongside the automated selections.
These are rankings, not predictions of certain winners. Bookmaker prices and advised stakes are not supplied with the free selections.

We only publish runners that meet the selection criteria. Limited racing, missing ratings, abandoned meetings or other exclusions can leave fewer than three qualifying selections. We do not add a horse simply to make up the numbers.
Non-runner information is checked periodically. A withdrawn horse may remain listed with a non-runner label; it is not automatically replaced with a new selection.
Status changes may take time to appear. Always check the latest race status before placing a bet.
